#Getting There

Arrival

To arrive directly out the front of the theatre entrance, the best address for your GPS is 12 Boundary St, South Brisbane. There is a council loading zone on Boundary Street that is directly out the front of the Queensland Theatre reception and 25m from the Bille Brown Theatre entrance.

Public Transport

The 86 bus route is the free South Brisbane Bus Loop service offered by Translink that stops directly in front of Queensland Theatre.

Ride Your Bike

Parking

Queensland Theatre is surrounded by on-street metered Council parking. Patrons can pay for Council parking via Council’s designated mobile payment service CellOPark. Please note Council is removing physical parking meters and payment for those zones can only be made via CellOPark. Queensland Theatre highly recommends downloading the app prior to your arrival.
There is also a parking bay beneath Queensland Theatre, parking spaces can be purchased with your tickets.


#Accessibility

Building Access

The lift (1m by 1.7m) takes you up to the mezzanine level, which has a seating area for patrons with tables and chairs and the Bille Brown Theatre Door 2 entrance.

Bathrooms

There is one All User/Accessible bathroom. The bathroom door is fitted with a Special Access Automatic Toilet Door Systems. When the bathroom is vacant, simply press the “Push To Open” button for access.

Companion Card

Queensland Theatre provides Companion Card holders with a second ticket for their chosen companion at no cost. To book companion card tickets please contact the Box Office by phoning 1800 355 528 or email sales@queenslandtheatre.com.au

Wheelchair Seating

For patrons who remain in their wheelchair, there are up to four wheelchair seating areas with companion seating. These are subject to availability based on production staging requirements. For patrons who transfer into a theatre seat there are up to three wheelchair seating areas with companion seating. These are subject to availability based on production staging requirements.

Audio Description

Queensland Theatre works with Vantagepoint to offer Audio Described services on specific performances. This service allows blind or low vision patrons to enjoy our shows by having trained describers capture in live narration the action, costumes, sets, transitions, gestures, facial expressions and lighting or special effects in performance. This service can be enjoyed from anywhere in the theatre, via a ListenTech assistive listening device. Upon your arrival please go to the Box Office to collect your device.

Tactile Tours

Tactile Tours are available for all of our mainstage productions and are scheduled on the same dates as Audio Described performances. Each tour offers blind and low-vision patrons the chance to touch and examine props and costumes and hear the cast and crew describe the visual aspects of the production. Assistive Listening Technology

Patrons who are hard of hearing or have booked into a specific Audio Described performance can borrow a ListenTech assistive listening device from the Box Office. The Audio is sent directly to headphones (provided with the ListenTech device), a hearing aid or a cochlear implant. Upon your arrival, please go to the Box Office to sign out a device.

Auslan Interpretation

Queensland Theatre works with Auslan Stage Left to offer Auslan Interpreted services on specific performances and events. During an Auslan Interpreted performance or event, one or two interpreters are positioned in view, relaying the dialogue spoken by the actors, into sign language, in real-time. Suitable seating is reserved in the theatre to ensure optimal sightlines to the interpreters.

Neurodivergent Patrons

Queensland Theatre welcomes neurodivergent patrons and encourages the use of personal noise-cancelling headphones, sunglasses and audio descriptors. If there are themes or technical warnings for a production that you would like to know more about before attending one of our shows please reach out to our Box Office. For select shows, spoiler sheets will be available closer to the season commencing. Please check the show page for availability.

Assistance Animals


Assistance animals (qualified and in-training) are welcome in all areas of Queensland Theatre. For comfort, seating areas with extra room in the Bille Brown Theatre and the Diane Cilento Studio are K38+39 seats.

Relaxed Performances

In Relaxed Performances minor changes will be made to reduce bright lighting and loud noises, theatre doors remain open for patrons to come and go and a designated breakout space will be available.
