Brisbane Festival has launched Festive Weekends – four weekends of wonder lovingly curated for visiting friends and relatives and visitors to Brisbane.

Ahead of our official program launch in July, we’ve revealed some of this year’s biggest events that celebrate iconic Brisbane landmarks from the river to rooftops, theatres to parks with stunning installations, new commissioned works, contemporary music and epic theatre. 

There’s something for locals and visitors this September.

The four themed weekends are:

2—4 Sep

BrisFest Lights Up

A Friday Festival welcome with Jumoo, the Festival’s popular smoking ceremony, followed by Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust on Saturday.

Reach for the Stars

9—11 Sept

Reach for the Stars

Brisbane’s Art Boat featuring The Spheres by Lindy Lee and Museum of the Moon at West Village are the highlights of this weekend

Celebrating our Storytellers

16—18 Sep

Celebrating our Storytellers

Theatre works of scale dominate this weekend including Girl from the North Country, Anita Heiss’s Tiddas, and Dead Puppet’s Society and Legs on the Walls epic Holding Achilles.

Raise the Roof

23—24 Sep

Raise the Roof

Rooftop revelry abounds in Raise the Roof, then the Festival closes with Queen’s Wharf Disco Wonderland at Riverstage.
